Ouch ..... this could be a little uncomfortable, or not? As we step into the new year, many of us will reflect on our past choices and re-evaluate how we would like things to be different. Looking back over the past year may not feel so good. It may have fallen short of our expectations, leaving us feeling depleted, confused, and somewhat bruised. What we really want going forward is improvement, and a year that is more aligned with our dreams and aspirations for our future. Self-reflection is important if we are to take stock of where we have been, where we are today, and where we would like to be moving forward. Part of that process is to come to a place of self-acceptance rather than self-criticism. We have all missed the mark at various times in our life, so the point of self-reflection is not to engage in a self-pity party or reduce ourself to sub-limits in comparison to others. Through self-acceptance we can embrace our truth without the need to hide our real self, temper our true feelings or compromise on our dreams.
It's about getting real and facing the good, the bad and the ugly of our choices. Without being honest with ourself, how can we hope to grow and achieve our dreams? It takes courage to sit with our truth, especially when it means facing where we fell short of our goals, or where we may have let ourself or others down. This is where it begins if we truly want to live a life of authenticity, success and fulfilment. Self-acceptance is accepting our past mistakes and painful experiences, as well as acknowledging our achievements, our uniqueness, our skills and our strengths. Being true to ourself is being honest, and having the courage to have a voice that speaks our truth and comes from our heart and soul, not from our ego or fearful self. Perhaps the idea of accepting our true self has been difficult in the past, because we have aimed to match the expectations and approval of others, or we have minimised and modified who we are, what we say and what we do so we don't upset others. It may have also been difficult because it meant facing the consequences of some of our not-so-great choices! This is the time when we know we have to grow some 'b@lls' (I feel the need to be blunt here)! There is no point in getting honest with ourself if we are not prepared to take the wrap and make some changes for the purpose of making improvements in our life. This may mean having the guts to have a tough conversation with ourself, and perhaps with others. Unless we are prepared to get real and speak our truth, then we are not likely to make any serious changes in our life. The same results will keep happening if we keep doing the same thing. Procrastination and a lack of self-truth will not produce good results or the kind of progress we are hoping for. Self-acceptance is a good starting point. Accept what has been been, and commit to yourself to doing things differently going forward, without dwelling on the past. What is done, is done. It's time to move on. Self-acceptance is not meant to be harsh, it's meant to be about 'truth'. To get to a point of self-acceptance however, may feel a little challenging. We need to love ourself enough to take the next steps. It's not about reducing ourself to an inadequate and limited version of our true self. It's having a deep love for our Soul-being, knowing that our purpose is to love and learn, and this means experiencing both the dark and the light so we know the difference. It’s through missing the mark and experiencing the joy of being on the right path, that we grow in wisdom and spiritual maturity. We are all a work-in-progress. It's not about getting it perfect every time. Embracing our truth enables us to be real and to cut-to-the-chase when it comes to making a difference in our life by living our truth. Why waste unnecessary time and energy carrying the burden of self-criticism or living with a false facade to the rest of the world? When we are accountable for our own thoughts, emotions and actions, we are free to make adjustments that are aligned with our true self and our soul-purpose. Letting go of self-imposed restrictions enables us to raise our vibration so we can experience more love and fulfilment in our life. Embracing our truth, means being real, so we can have a better life. `~~~~~~~~ “The Power of Soul Loving - A Spiritual Guide to Love and Freedom” By Rebecca Gabrielle (Balboa Press, 2019, Ch 15) https://www.thepowerofsoulloving.com/ For Coaching, your personal 2020 Planning session OR a personal card reading - https://www.livingwithspice.com/#/ Photo by Amine M'Siouri from Pexels #embraceyourtruth #2020preparation #raiseyourvibration #selfacceptance #newbeginnings #soulpurpose #honesty #stepup #moveon #thepowerofsoulloving #livingwithspice
