Transformation in our life is usually challenging and often painful, yet like a mother in labour, she knows there is an end in sight and a new life is to be born. Most people associate pain and struggles as something that is bad and to be avoided. The transformational process is as important as the new version of who you become. However, when we know the Divine is there to love and support us, then the energy and expectation around the birthing process can be lovingly welcomed and embraced. All struggles are an opportunity for transformation to bring greater love into our life, as well as spiritual and emotional growth and a deeper understanding of ourself, and our purpose in this life. The caterpillar is earth bound and has limited movement and sight, and its primary focus is to ensure it has enough to eat each day. When it has fed on as many nutrients as possible, the time comes for it to go into a resting state in readiness for its transformation to the next level of beauty and awesomeness. Cocooned in an elaborately woven silk covering, the caterpillar goes within, withdrawing from the world it has known, and prepares to transform to a new version of itself that will bring greater freedom, expansion and new opportunities. The chrysalis process is powerful, and non-reversible. It appears to be exhausting and perhaps even painful. It takes time, and there is a definable beginning and end to the process. If the process is interrupted the caterpillar will certainly die prematurely. When we go through any period of change it can feel uncomfortable, unfamiliar and even frightening. There is uncertainty when we step into the unknown, but when we let go of the need to know how things will turn out, and we surrender to the ebb and flow of life, knowing that the Universe is always working in our favour and for our growth, then we can embrace change with an expectation that all is well and for our greater good. The caterpillar does not resist change. It instinctively knows that this process is necessary and is a part of living its life to the fullest extent. Fear is an illusion that keeps us bound, small and unchanged. It’s the place we stay and never come to realise our beauty within, or our unlimited potential. It’s a tragedy for the caterpillar to miss the opportunity to transform into the amazing beautiful butterfly it was intended to be. Butterflies are radiant, light, unaffected by the gravity of life. They are creatures free to fly, and their purpose is to multiply so that there is more beauty to be shared ongoing. So why do we stay in that place of fear and limit our own potential? When we avoid transformation for the purpose of our soul growth, we inevitably experience constant dis-ease and internal conflict, and this can feel like a heavy emotional and spiritual weight that drains our energy and dims our soul-light. In time, our spirit suffers what feels lie a slow and painful death in our heart, mind and body. When the veil of darkness and ignorance lifts and the light of self-awareness burns within us, the voice of our soul grows louder and stronger, calling us to step away from fear and move into greater love in our life. “The Power of Soul Loving” by Rebecca Gabrielle (Balboa Press, 2019, Ch 11 ~ Becoming Friends with Fear) www.thepowerofsoulloving.com
