When we are feeling the most pain and it feels that we are at our lowest point, it is an easy temptation to give up on ourself. It’s often in these moments that we believe the worst of ourself, of others and of our circumstances. This is fear shouting at us, and its grip on our inner being can be crippling if we let it take hold. If you are a parent and you have witnessed your child sobbing uncontrollably and they are taken over by their own emotions through a fit of anger, you know they are feeling the full force of their own fears. With patience you wait until they calm down because you know that in that moment, they are overcome by their emotions, their sadness, anger or fear. You know they have created this reality for themselves and yet you know it need not be this way. You know they are still loved, lovable, and that all will be clearer and calmer when the force of their inner storm passes.
In the same way, we need to remind ourself of this when we are feeling the fullness of our own fear and lack of self-love. This is not the time to be making life-changing decisions. It’s in this moment we need to stop and pause. There is wisdom in going within and reflecting on what is going on for us. Our inner storms come, and they go. However, we can learn to develop some resilience and remember that they will pass. The storms don’t change who we are, our value, our uniqueness, our potency or our lovability. In many ways, weathering the storms of our life strengthen us. They show us that no matter the chaos, noise, and force that we may feel in those storms, we are more than this. Our soul-being is capable of rising above the storm to see that there is an expanse that goes way beyond the weather we are experiencing. With every dark night that we go through, the sun rises the next day to show us the truth. We can use the blanket of the night to provide us calm and a period of time to go within and feel what needs to be felt and hear what needs to be heard from our inner soul. When the sun rises, we are reminded that light exists beyond the shadows we create. In every present moment, in each new day, we have the opportunity to start fresh. Use the energy of Love’s light to guide you. "The Power of Soul Loving" by Rebecca Gabrielle (Balboa Press, 2019, p127) www.thepowerofsoulloving.com
